/PRNewswire/ -- The Game Developers Conference® (GDC) will once again bring the superstars of game development together at the industry's most comprehensive and longest-running professionals-only event.  Organized by the UBM TechWeb Game Network, GDC 2012 will take place March 5-9, 2012 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California.  Early Bird rates with savings up to 35% on full pass prices end this Thursday, February 2, 2012.

At the football a couple of weeks ago, it started raining heavily and of course umbrellas are banned in most sports venues these days. The guy selling plastic ponchos with a life expectancy of about five minutes did a roaring trade, at five dollars each. But the lady sitting next to me had come prepared – she had a red nylon raincoat and she took a fold-up plastic rain bonnet out of the pocket and slipped it on. She was about 40 and quite attractive and the bonnet actually looked OK on her. She said she had picked up the coat and plastic hat for a total price of $ 1 at a charity shop five years ago and this was the only place she wore them, and they always kept her perfectly dry. And at least she didn’t look like she belonged to the Ku Klutz Klan.

Those rainhats don’t look anywhere near as bad as people make out and they have to be better than some of the alternatives. What do others think?

They remind me of shower caps. Why don’t people just wear those instead? They’d be multipurpose so you save cash and such, and you kind of look smart wearing them. Or at least like you’ve just stepped out of an operating room....
