Portsmouth Bank Robbed
Police say a bank robbery suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after he demanded money from a People's United Bank teller Saturday morning.
Portsmouth Police Capt. Corey MacDonald, commander of the detectives division, also released surveillance photos of the suspect who is described as a white male in his mid- to late 20's with blue eyes and an unshaven face with one to two days of beard growth.
"The male may have been wearing tan pants and tan sneakers, a black “puffy” jacket with hood, and a hunting style hat with side flaps pulled down. The hat is described as having a plaid or checkered style print," the police press release reads.
MacDonald said that an older Fort Escort or Focus sedan was seen in the area and may have been involved in the bank robbery, which occurred around 11:09 a.m. at the Islington Street branch.
Detectives are requesting anyone with information today to call the Portsmouth Police at 436-2145.
