Executive Q&A: Kent Taylor
The next 12 months are crucial ones for 17-year veteran beer makers Kent Taylor and Stephanie Ann Weins of Blackstone Brewing Co. Their days will be fraught with personal and financial risks.
And as Taylor tells it, theyll also pass a heck of a good time as the partners bid to make Blackstone beer as well known as other regional stars of the craft brewing industry names like Abita from St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana or homegrown Yazoo.
The co-founders of the Blackstone brew pub on West End Avenue here have been partners since 1994, but in recent weeks theyve started to make the transition from restaurant owners producing 1,000 barrels of their own beer a year to entrepreneurs with a nearly $4 million investment in statewide growth.
Their ultimate goal is to distribute their beers Chaser Pale, Nut Brown Ale, American Pale Ale and St. Charles Porter across Tennessee for starters, and then regionally into Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia.
