T oo bad I didn’t get this on film — it might have made it to “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
It has been tradition for Sue Muniak to wear a Santa hat, with bells, at the December school board meeting. But this year was her last after nearly 25 years and fellow board members Lisa Durichko and Nancy Zelei presented her a corsage and a new Santa hat.
Only this one had a surprise inside — a button. When it was pushed, the hat lit up and the top started waving back and forth and it played “Holly Jolly Christmas.” Sue burst into laughter, as did everyone else who saw it for the first time. Everyone was laughing so hard, I wasn’t sure they could go on with the meeting. Luckily, it was early, so they had time to compose themselves.
If you watch the school board video you can see the hat being activated a couple times. But it was the first time that was worth a thousand words. And I didn’t have a video camera. Nuts!
