Just to clarify, I think it’s a flawed system because the “BCS” charter is to match #1 v. #2, but the other BCS bowls are not taking the best teams … they’re taking the teams that they believe have the best travel entourage or will bring the best ratings.

I think a lot of fans want … hope … to see the best teams play one another, but that’s not the bowl selection process. When they are given the selection to take the “Big East #2 team” that doesn’t mean they select the team that finished second. They just get to select 2nd of the Big East teams. In theory, they could select WVU regardless of where they finished in conference if we’re not in the BCS.

I don’t understand why the NCAA does not govern this process given the circumstances, but unless fans and/or television demand it, there will not be a change. This is a big reason why I don’t think adding Boise to the Big East makes much difference in the AQ status. There will not be a sudden jump in interest or fanbase travel just because they’re in the BE and that is where the interest lies with television and the bowls. Boise isn’t selected because of merit, they’re not selected because it’s a small school with a small television interest.
